Jongeun Lee
PhD candidate
I'm currently a PhD candidate at COMBINE LAB (can’t believe how fast time is flying!). Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted a job where I could make a real difference in the lives of people who need it most. During my PhD, I’ve been focused on using computational methods to untangle the complexity of neurodevelopmental disorders like autism. More specifically, I’m working on integrating movie-watching fMRI with an encoding model framework to better understand how people with autism process meaning and concepts in their brains. My goal is to move beyond just statistical characterization and get closer to the actual biological mechanisms behind these conditions. By doing that, we hope to identify distinct subtypes of the disorder and speed up the development of precision medicine tailored to each individual’s needs.
Fun Fact: When AKMU debuted, people around me thought my brother debuted.
